     Coming from Barreiro and born in 1985,  Black Cross was one of the  first portuguese heavy metal bands, with hints of black metal, the band was originally formed by João Ramos (bass,ex-Airforce), Paulo Henrique (guitar), Filipe Bombas (drums) and rehearsed for a while abdicating vocal part because they were not able to find someone who would fit the genre they wanted. The group will go through several suitors, such as Toninho (Asgarth), Joaquim (the first singer of the group) or Ginha, but no definitive singer. However,  because the wait was too long, Paulo Henrique left the band. At that time, the simultaneous entry of Joaquim as vocalist, guitars will be temporarily handled by Toninho, guitarist of Asgarth wich later will be replaced by João Relâmpago (Angel Sinner). Finally a new singer, Rui Subtil, will  be the permanent singer. With the new singer they record a demo with three themes -"Genocide", "Heavy Metal" and "Sexta-Feira 13". The influences were noticeable and are detected traces of Manowar. Some would even consider in the first national band of metal in the Venom black Metal style. They ended their activities in 1988.

  Daemonarch was a band with vocalist Fernando Ribeiro, and other members of Moonspell, with the exception of drummer Mike Gaspar. The battery is thus synthesized.

Daemonarch was a project in order to make a black metal album. The album is born from a compilation of poetry wrote by Fernando Ribeiro between the ages of 14 and 16 called ''Hermeticum'', and can be described as: ''would sound like if they had kept Moonspell trends in their black metal's early career''. Many critics and fans said Daemonarch would be Moonspell, but changed their style because of the media.

  At one time that Fernando Ribeiro performed in Jose Saramago Municipal Library - Beja,he said that Daemonarch had been predicted from the outset as a 'one-time side project', and when asked about the fact that the lyrics - poems written during his adolescence - were not included in the original digipak CD, the musician replied that his dog had destroyed the sheets where they were written.
